The Advanced Paralegal Certification courses are curricula based programs. This means that the course is entire self-contained, that the texts and exercises are related to the material in the course.  However, the courses are written with the thought that those who are enrolled in them are working as paralegals, and have an advanced knowledge of the subject matter.  If you are planning to take an Advanced Paralegal Certification course, but are just not sure if you are ready, it may be helpful to you to review textbooks or other references in preparation.  The following is a list of text books from Cengage Publishing that may be helpful to you. This text offers a functional approach to dispute resolution with its array of interrelated processes. Students learn distinguishing factors, advantages and disadvantages of each process, and how to select one process over another to create dispute resolution strategies. Chapter concepts are illustrated by examples, and examples are followed by problems, giving students opportunities to find solutions and develop their reasoning skills as they apply each concept. Every process chapter ends with a chart that outlines the attributes of that process, and follows with review questions that include new terms, true/false, fill-in the blank, multiple-choice, and short answer formats. Judicial options explore more difficult concepts, showing students how the courts handle dispute resolution issues when the outcome is not certain. A number of Web sites have also been cited throughout the text so students can conduct further research, and the glossary and extensive index provide quick references.  Click the image to order this book from Cengage. Designed to encompass both early history and modern day principles, The Law of Medical Malpractice takes the student from a brief history of civil liability for professional malfeasance to the anatomy of a lawsuit and the medical malpractice trial.
